About Rachel Stringfellow
If you’re looking for Rachel, it’s more than likely she’s the person rolling around on the floor playing with the dog.
Animals and photography are her passions, and picking up the camera to capture special memories of your precious fur family members marries the two worlds perfectly.
Based in Tauranga, Rachel regularly travels throughout the North Island for her stunning pet portrait sessions, as well as capturing all the action at equestrian competitions, and shooting weddings.
Growing up in Taupo, Rachel’s love of animals was evident from a young age, particularly horses. Anything outdoors or sport related was her happy place, and she went on to work with racehorses and complete an equine qualification in Hamilton, before having children.
Rachel loves to be active and busy. She still owns and rides horses and, when she can, loves to get into the great outdoors for a hike. She’s also competed at the New Zealand Championships in rock and roll dancing, and is a swimming instructor.
Self-taught, Rachel first picked up a camera in 2011, starting out with family portraits. With her strong affinity for animals, it wasn’t long before she decided to specialise in pets.
“I’m a country girl and I love animals – I’d rather be playing with a dog! Mum has always said I have a connection with animals. I’m one of those people who rolls around on the floor with the dog, having fun.”
Rachel’s ‘why’ is quite simple when it comes to photography – she loves making people happy, and capturing animals through her lens.
“I love to see happy, healthy animals, and their personalities come through. I create a fun, relaxed environment and like to capture natural photos, as well as the serious portraits. Communication with customers is also key. It all comes together to get a great result.”
Golden oldies photo shoots hold a special place in her heart. “Those old friends who have been part of the family for so long, often people don’t realise how important capturing those memories are until the animal is no longer here.”
